To the editor,
I must admit I was skeptical when the Wild Rose Casino gambling license first came up. The selling point was the funds the local communities and surrounding counties would receive annually along with grant opportunities. I thought “sure, little Paton is going to see any of that.” Well, was I ever wrong.
The annual check we receive has helped us with a newer city pickup and blade, nice John Deere Lawn mower, new park drinking fountain and helped greatly with a badly needed Main Street project, with more to come on that with future funding.
We also received grant funding in town for a nice walking trail out to John Deere and Paton Pit Stop. The annual funds also helped get a paved railroad crossing for the trail for safer use. We have a new pickle ball court, an updated shelter house and kitchen area in the park and new playground equipment on the way. All from grant funding provided through Grow Greene County. The casino funds so many great projects around the county through the Grow Greene County grants.
I am writing to give my support 100 percent behind the vote coming up this November to make this permanent by voting YES. My city council and residents of Paton have so many ideas of other projects we can do to make our town better with this type of financial support, but we can’t do it without everyone’s support on the ballot come November.
